In English
Narita airport is moving ahead with a plan to merge its three passenger terminals into one in the 2030s. Today, transfer passengers sometimes have to take a bus between terminals. Under the plan, a new terminal with new boarding gates will be built between Terminals 1 and 2 and linked to the existing buildings by passageways, then expanded step by step until customs and other functions are all in one terminal. The construction schedule hasn't been decided yet. The airport is also considering a people mover, like the one at Hamad airport in Qatar, for east-west trips of up to about 2 km. With a runway extension and a new runway, yearly flight capacity is expected to rise from 340,000 to 500,000, and passengers from 57 million to 75 million. The aim is to make Narita a stronger hub in Northeast Asia while Haneda runs near capacity. "We want to improve convenience for passengers, including those making connections," a Narita International Airport Corp. official said (Kyodo, Nov 1). **Life tip:** Nothing changes for your next trip. Until the 2030s, check which terminal (第1・第2・第3ターミナル) your airline uses before you go, because Terminals 1 and 2 have separate train stations (Terminal 3 uses the Terminal 2 station, about a 10-minute walk away), and moving between terminals takes extra time.

YOUR TURN
A coworker says, "、にんですか?成田から?" Say yes, from Narita, but your flight uses Terminal 3 and last time the move between terminals by bus was a pain. Add that you heard Narita will put its three terminals into one in the 2030s, so connections will get easier, though that's still far off. Use 〜です, にまとめる, and 〜やすくなる.
