In English
Typhoon No. 30 turned into an extratropical low in the East China Sea at 9 p.m. on Oct 25 (JMA, via FNN); on the morning of Oct 26 the low was over the sea west of Kyushu. Together with a stalled front, it may bring warning-level heavy rain to a wide area from Kyushu to Kanto through Monday night. The peak in Kyushu, Chugoku and Shikoku was expected from morning to around noon, with commuter transport possibly disrupted; in Tokai and Kanto the rain is expected to strengthen from the evening and continue until the morning of Oct 27. Forecast rainfall reaches about 200 mm in parts of Shikoku (FNN, 6:43 a.m.), and because the ground is already loose, the risk of landslides continues even after the peak. FNN, citing the Japan Weather Association, urges caution about landslides, flooding of low-lying areas and rising rivers. JR East warned that shinkansen and limited express trains may be delayed or cancelled. So tomorrow's (Tuesday's) morning commute in Tokyo could be wet and slow.
